Movie: The Testament of Ann Lee
Honing in on an obscure 18th century religious movement, Mona Fastvold’s The Testament of Ann Lee is a vivid and eclectic yet mesmerizing period musical. It tells the story of devout English prophet Ann Lee and the denomination of Shakers she founded first in England and then as a settlement in New York state. Enthralling in both presentation and perspective, coloured in beautiful, historically evocative songs, it is one of the most singularly unique original musicals. The film stars Amanda Seyfried in a career-best performance, alongside Christopher Abbott, Lewis Pullman, and Thomasin McKenzie.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:20.
Admission is free. No food or drink permitted in the Library Theatre. For more information, contact the Library at 306-692-2787.
