We are more than books! The Library has a wide variety of kits and items that you can borrow for free with your library card.

    

   

      

    

   

   

Telescope Kit

Explore the night skies of Saskatchewan with a Celestron Travel Scope! The Moose Jaw Public Library has Ten Celestron Travel Scope 80 Backpack Telescope Kits. Each backpack contains a telescope & mount, 4 eyepieces, 1 smartphone adaptor, 1 rechargeable red flashlight & power bank, 7 filters, 1 microfiber cloth and 1 instruction manual package.


These kits are only available to Moose Jaw Public Library patrons and must be returned to Moose Jaw Public Library - Circulation Desk. The loan period is 14 days, with no renewals.

This equipment was purchased with the financial support of the Canadian Space Agency. 

   

Radon Kit

Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rock and is the #1 cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. Saskatchewan has high levels of radon. You can check the levels of radon in your home by using one of our radon detectors.

*These kits are available to borrow from October 1 to April 1.

SaskBats Bat Detector Kit

Help the University of Saskatchewan Bat Conservation Project by becoming a citizen scientist! Each kit includes a Bat Echo meter, flash drive, clipboard with 5 laminated sheets, Saskatchewan bats pamphlet, bat echolocation datasheet, and comment sheet. These kits will help citizen scientists to identify and record the sounds of bat echolocation, and when you report your findings to BatWatch.ca, you can help researchers learn about bats across Saskatchewan.

These kits are available to borrow for 7 days with no renewals.

   

C-PEN Reader

MJPL has a C-Pen reader available for patrons with varying abilities in reading print. The pens make it easy to process printed text, empowering people’s ability to read, understand and learn.

The replacement cost if the device is damaged, lost, or not returned is $350.

Devices may be checked out for a three week period with one renewal.

Vox Books

   

Vox books are the world’s first audio books that live in print books. The permanently attached VOX Reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. No need for computers, tablets, or CDs—children simply push a button to listen and read.

VOX Books combine outstanding picture books, chapter books, and non-fiction titles with audio recordings that capture children’s attention and make learning and literacy development fun.

All Moose Jaw Public Library Vox books have a three week loan period with two renewals.

Borrow a fun board game to take home and play with your family and friends! Board games have a three week loan period with no renewals.

We are always adding to this collection so be sure to check back and see what is new!

*The library also has a collection of board games that can not be borrowed but are available for use in the library.
