Movie: Rashomon
A classic of world cinema and the breakout film of Japanese master Akira Kurosawa, the complex and enigmatic Rashomon stands in a category all its own. It concerns the curious circumstances around a violet crime committed in the woods involving a samurai, his wife, and a bandit, and the conflicting stories each tells at their tribunal, obscuring the truth. A provocative exercise in perspective and unreliable storytelling, it is also notable for its rich, unconventional filmmaking. Starring Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyō, Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:30.
