Movie: Backrooms
An indie horror phenomenon announcing not only a new filmmaking voice but perhaps a new filmmaking movement, Backrooms happens to also be one of the most singularly creepy movies in years. Directed by twenty-year-old Kane Parsons, it is about a failed salesman and his therapist exploring a mysterious labyrinth of unsettling liminal spaces in the basement of a furniture warehouse. Based on an internet-derived urban legend, it is a film full of immensely effective perturbing visuals, sensations of nightmarish anxiety, and bitter reflections of resentment and ego. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:50.
