Movie: Nashville
This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of one of the most significant movies of the 1970s, Robert Altman’s Nashville. An ensemble film focused on an array of characters in and around the country music scene of the titular city, it is a stunning snapshot of a particular era and mood. Wavering between biting satirical comedy and earnest drama through Altman’s signature naturalism, and coloured by a score of original music, Nashville is a truly definitive film. Featuring among others Karen Black, Ronee Blakley, Keith Carradine, Shelley Duvall, Henry Gibson, and Lily Tomlin.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:40.
