Join us for MJPL Movie Club! We meet twice a month to watch a film and engage in a short discussion.
Movie: Anora
Winner of the Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture, Director, Actress, and Supporting Actor, Anora is as fun and thrilling as it is raw and affecting. It is the story of a Brooklyn sex worker and her relationship with the son of a Russian oligarch, that his parents and handlers go to extreme lengths to break up. Coloured by distinct, eccentric characters and director Sean Baker’s trademark sympathy towards stigmatized communities, the film stars Mikey Madison, Mark Eydelshteyn, Yura Borisov, and Karren Karagulian.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:20.
