Perhaps the best movie made about writer’s block, Federico Fellini’s semi-autobiographical 8 ½ is one of the major works of twentieth century Italian cinema. Self-reflecting and working through his own creative stagnancy, Fellini tells the story of a successful film director struggling to make a sci-fi movie as he revisits his relationships with the various women in his life. Frequently cited as one of the most influential movies, it is an entrancing examination of success, artistry, masculinity, and ego. Starring Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Cardinale, Anouk Aimée, Sandra Milo, and Rossella Falk. Presented in Italian with English subtitles.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:20.
