Movie: Singin' in the Rain
Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen’s immortal classic Singin’ in the Rain remains a singularly fun and flamboyant movie experience. Cheekily poking fun at the film industry at the transition from the silent to sound eras, it stars Kelly as a vaudeville performer struggling to make the leap while butting heads with a rising star played by Debbie Reynolds. With Donald O’Connor as his whip-smart buddy and Jean Hagen as his vain leading lady, it has all the energy, humour, spontaneity, and charm of the best movie musicals -in which company it most certainly belongs.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:45.
