Movie: Trainspotting
One of the quintessential movies of Gen-X disillusionment and a visceral, haunting though entrancing illustration of the depths of addiction, Trainspotting is a movie that uniquely and intimately understands its world of carefree vice and listlessness. The breakout movie of director Danny Boyle, it follows the lives of a collection of heroin addicts in an impoverished part of Edinburgh, struggling to get by while living on the edge. A low-key cultural phenomenon, it is a movie that captured an immortally frenzied and stylish image of Scottish youth culture, contrasting its themes of depression, drug use and crime with stinging humour, music, and propulsive filmmaking. The film stars Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, and Robert Carlyle.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:35.
