Movie: Harold and Maude
A classic of charming eccentricity from director Hal Ashby, Harold and Maude remains a unique and endearing counterculture gem. It is the story of the unusual relationship between two social misfits, a rebellious young rich man obsessed with death and a quirky elderly woman with a flamboyant penchant for life. Coloured by a sometimes morbid sense of humour contrasted against an upbeat tone and folksy soundtrack by Cat Stevens, the film stars Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon in career-defining roles. A fun and weird yet ultimately wholesome movie like no other.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:30.
