Movie: Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat
A rich and vividly detailed documentary essay by Johan Grimonprez, Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat examines the cultural and political contexts surrounding the turbulent independence and regime change in the Democratic Republic of Congo that culminated in a protest demonstration at the U.N. Security Council in February 1961. Composed primarily of archive footage, expertly edited and infused with a vivacious soundtrack, it is a sprawling and intriguing insight into an underwritten but important moment in Cold War history.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm.
Admission is free. No food or drink permitted in the Library Theatre. For more information, contact the Library at 306-692-2787.
