Movie: Origin
A translation of a sociological thesis as much as a story in its own right, Ava DuVernay’s powerful Origin is a critical and captivating study of the seeds of discrimination, as it follows the journey of journalist Isabel Wilkerson through the U.S., Germany, and India interrogating various systems of caste across histories and cultures. Articulate and incisive in its arguments and broad scope, it is a deeply felt movie as well, through the magnificent performance of Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, who stars alongside Jon Bernthal and Niecy Nash.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:20.
