A Zoom discussion on the environment presented by Break the Divide and Ecostress Sask. Join via Zoom or in person at the library.
Feeling anxious about wildfires, smoke, and climate change? Upset about environmental losses and changes? Worried about how climate change will impact your family’s future? Join this community space to come together in mutual support to discuss what’s happening and how we’re feeling.
A climate cafe is:
• An informal, open, respectful, confidential space to safely share emotional responses and reactions related to the climate and environmental emergency (i.e. a “container”).
• A space for exploration of thoughts, feelings and experiences rather than what we are DOING about the climate crisis.
• A quiet, reflective experience - a haven from usual busyness and activity.
Not designed to lead participants to any conclusion or toward action (actions can be discussed, but reflection is paramount).
Co-presented by:
Russell Charlton, MEd, a certified counsellor and a climate-informed therapist. He is also a co-founder, co-director, and facilitator for EcoStress Sask, which organizes support groups for people experiencing eco-related distress.
Ahbay Singh Sachal, founder and Executive Director of Break the Divide. His research and work resides at the intersection of climate change, ecoanxiety, mental health, and spirituality. Abhay is one of 10 advisors in the inaugural Environment and Climate Change Canada Youth Council, and serves as one of 20 advisors in the United Nations Environmental Programme Faith For Earth Youth Council.
This program will be presented via Zoom. You can participate in the Library or from home.
Registration is required -- a Zoom link will be sent to all registrants 24 hours prior to the meeting.
