University of Regina lecturer Dr. Alexis McQuigge will be giving a special talk on the works and significance of Jane Austen to English literature over the last two centuries.
Dr. McQuigge's research interests include:
The Restoration and Eighteenth Century
Themes of Madness and Monstrosity in the Long Eighteenth Century
Jane Austen
McQuigge focuses primarily on women's writing by lesser-known English novelists, especially Eliza Haywood and Penelope Aubin. Her research includes work on female travellers (especially female castaways), women held in captivity (both in England and abroad), and on Lady Mary Wortley Montagu’s Turkish Embassy Letters.
