Movie: Sense and Sensibility
One of the most popular and celebrated Jane Austen adaptations is Ang Lee’s 1995 English debut, Sense and Sensibility. The Oscar-winning script by Emma Thompson retells the story of the Dashwood sisters, their lives and romantic prospects as they deal with a sharp decline in their family’s economic fortunes. Noted for its pastoral imagery and tenderly conveyed drama, it is a defining period film of its era. The movie stars Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Greg Wise, and Alan Rickman.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 8:15.
