Movie: Hero
One of the most vivid and memorable martial arts epics of the 2000s, Zhang Yimou’s Hero is a film of uniquely arresting visual grandeur. It is the story of several subjective encounters between a nameless warrior and the assassins sent after the King of Qin during a war of the early imperial era of Chinese history. A rich and romantic movie experience of unreliable narrators, stark colours, evocative cinematography, vibrant aesthetics, and hypnotic action, it boasts a star-studded cast of Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Ziyi, and Donnie Yen.
Showtime begins at 6:00 pm with a discussion afterwards at about 7:40.
